Services- PERINATAL VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean)

If you have had a previous cesarean surgery chances are high that you can have a vaginal delivery with your next baby! This is called VBAC or Vaginal Birth After Cesarean. VBAC has a high success rate and is possible for most women with a former Cesarean delivery. We provide you with all the information you will need so that you are able to make an informed decision.

Evidence from all over the world shows that VBAC has a lot of benefits for both mother and baby. Firstly, there is no need for abdominal surgery. There is less risk of hysterectomy and injury of the abdominal organs. The postnatal recovery period is shorter, there is a lower risk of infection, and the mother loses less blood … and what is key: The natural birth is emotionally empowering.

Our Services- PERINATAL Water Birth

At Jeevalaya Birthing Home we follow the midwifery model of care, leading to a natural birth. We believe that women’s bodies are designed for giving birth naturally and are capable of doing so! Reviews suggest that women who received midwife-led continuity models of care were less likely to experience intervention and more likely to be satisfied with their pregnancy and the birth of their child. Medical intervention, which means the use of anesthetic medications and interventions like episiotomies or c-section, can be minimized.

Natural Birth

At JBH we have a bathtub, which, if you so wish, allows you to stay in the water during the birth. You can choose whether you just go into the water for a period of time and then have the delivery itself outside the water. There are several positive effects of being inside water during delivery. During the first and second stages of labour you cope better with labour pains. There are higher levels of oxytocin, which promote the progress of labour, reduce the levels of stress hormones, and stimulate production of endorphins, which reduce pain. Water allows you to feel light due to less gravity felt being in the water, enabling freer movement and different positions.

In the third stage of labour, should you decide to stay inside the water for the birth, your baby will have a smooth transition from the amniotic fluids to the water. This is also known to be beneficial for the protection of the perineum because it becomes more elastic due to the warm water. Your baby also takes advantage of the relaxation, feels less stress and therefore secure and vital after birth.

UV filters ensure that the water is not contaminated. Everything, which gets in contact with the water is either washable or disposable. Cleaning and disinfection protocols, including regular changing of the water, ensure protection against bacteria and viral load.
